Within the framework of the visit,KOBİA representatives held several meetings and participated in various events.
Representatives of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA) paid a visit to the USA in a bid to establish and forge a cooperation among SMEs and relationships with relevant organizations
During the visit organized with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States, KOBİA representatives conducted several meetings on cooperation in the field of small and medium-sized enterprises in Washington and New York, as well as participated in various events.
In Washington, during meetings held between Orhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Management Board of KOBİA, and Jennifer Mill, Vice President of the US Chamber of Commerce for the Middle East, Turkey, and Central Asia; Ayman El Tarabishy, President of the International Council for Small Business; Bruce Purdy, Associate Administrator for Small Business Development Centers, and Jonathan Ortmans, President of the Global Entrepreneurship Network in New York, as well as with James Grabert, Director of the UN Climate Change Impact Mitigation Department, and Dima Al-Khatib, Director of the UN Office for South-South Cooperation, views were exchanged on the development of cooperation between SMBs, the organization of mutual business missions, the enhancement of entrepreneurs' skills and knowledge, joint initiatives with KOBİA, and the importance of a green transition for SMBs.
In a meeting with Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), held in New York, issues regarding KOBİA’s upcoming chairmanship of the Business Council in the coming years were discussed.
During the visit, KOBİA representatives also met with an Azerbaijani entrepreneur engaged in business activities in Virginia.
At a meeting held in Washington on investment opportunities for US companies in Azerbaijan, co-organized by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the United States, the Washington Intergovernmental Professional Group, and the World Trade Center, Orhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Management Board of KOBİA, provided information on Azerbaijan’s favorable business and investment climate, the potential of the country’s liberated territories, SMB activities, support measures for entrepreneurs, and cooperation opportunities, and also addressed participants' questions.
At an event organized by the UN within the framework of New York Climate Week, titled “Inspiring action for all: showcasing climate leadership from SMBs and Impact Makers", the Chairman of KOBİA shared his thoughts on the contributions that SMBs can make in the fight against climate change and invited participants to join the global initiative proposed by KOBİA to support the green transition for SMBs.
Additionally, KOBİA representatives participated in the US Chamber of Commerce's "COP Troika" roundtable. Furthermore, KOBİA representatives attended the event of UN Global Compact Leaders Summit 2024 in New York.
At the event, Orhan Mammadov, Chairman of Management Board of KOBİA noted that the agency is a member of the Global Compact and shared information about the role of SMBs in the global economy, employment, and environmental and social development, as well as the support provided to SMBs in Azerbaijan, and highlighted the organization's support for the SPARK initiative for the sustainable development of SMBs.
At the "5th Caspian Business Forum" held in New York, KOBİA representatives provided information on business and investment opportunities in Azerbaijan, support measures for SMBs, their contributions to the green transition, and investment opportunities in the country, particularly in the liberated Karabakh region.
