The two-day forum discusses the development prospects of the halal industry, standards in this field, investment opportunities, and avenues for cooperation.
The Azerbaijan Halal Business and Tourism Forum (AZHAB Forum) is being held for the first time in Baku, organized by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Tourism Agency, and the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA). The event is supported by Caspian Event Organisers LLC, the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the International Association of Islamic Business (IAIB), the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD), the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), and the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC).
Officials, experts, academics, international organizations, and business leaders from around 20 countries are participating in the forum, representing different regions of the world.
The event aims to foster new cooperation in investment and trade, facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences, and promote foreign investment in Azerbaijan.
The forum commenced with the reading of verses from the Holy Quran.
During the opening session, Majnun Mammadov, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Dr. Ahmad Kawesa Sengendo, Assistant Secretary General for Economic Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Goshgar Tahmazli, Chairman of the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, Director General of SESRIC; Samad Bashirli, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Haji Salman Musayev, First Deputy Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Board, Taha Ayhan, President of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF), Mammad Musayev, President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ihsan Övüt, Secretary General of SMIIC and Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Management Board of KOBIA, delivered speeches. They shared insights on halal product certification, standards in the field, import-export challenges, competition in international markets, the role of innovation and technology, investment opportunities, and cooperation prospects.
The forum comprises two segments: a conference and an exhibition. The exhibition showcases the products and services of around 30 companies from Azerbaijan and abroad, primarily focusing on the food, textile, service, ICT, and education sectors.
The forum continues with panel discussions.
